Being a part of the 'Positive Mental Attitude Sports Foundation Trust ' is more than just taking part in a sport!!!
The PMA Sports Trust uses sport to overcome the stigma and exclusion that exists for those suffering mental ill health. 1 in 4 people will experience mental ill health during their lifetime. Whether you are rich or poor, mental ill health has no boundaries!
It is how we recover that is important!!
PMA provide a variety of pathways in which we work and support individuals with mental health issues from Elite Sports Professionals through to Grass Root players, enabling individuals to re-engage within their communities and play a valuable role.
With PMA's experienced Health and Sports Professional staff, we provide the member's choice of service in addressing their Physical, Educational, and Social needs. Be it, the individuals are in the transition from a professional playing career, still playing pro football or at grass root level. Individuals may come from a hospital setting to community living and reducing the need for dependency on health services, or are living in the community but want to find a way to re-engage and gain employment or back into education.
"My life has changed for the better since I have been involved with the PMA, after 15 years been unemployed, with six hospital admissions for my mental health problems, I am now in full-time employment and have been stable now for over five years" (member).
"Before I joined my local PMA community club, I thought I was going to die. Now it's nice to be alive. Being a part of PMA has given me back my mind" (member).
“I have gained confidence, friendships and improved my performances on and off the pitch, which I would never have done without PMA support" (member).
